IND vs NZ Test: A Big blow for Team India as opener KL Rahul has been ruled out of the entire Test series with a thigh strain injury.

The Test starts on November 25 at Green Park in Kanpur. With no Rohit and Kohli for the 1st Test, Ajinkya Rahane will lead the team, Shubhaman Gill and Mayank Agarwal as the openers.

KL Rahul will undergo rehabilitation at the NCA to prepare for the South Africa tour.

“Team India batsman Mr. KL Rahul has sustained a muscle strain on his left thigh and has been ruled out of the upcoming 2-match Paytm Test series against New Zealand. He will now undergo rehabilitation at NCA in preparation for the series against South Africa scheduled next month,” BCCI said in a statement.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Mr. Suryakumar Yadav as KL Rahul’s replacement,” BCCI added.

@16:00: Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill are all set to open. That also means either Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer will make his Test debut.

@15:50: On Monday, Suryakumar Yadav was added to the Test squad. While the BCCI didn’t officially confirm the news on Monday, the Indian board has now confirmed that he has been named as replacement for injured KL Rahul.

@15:45: KL Rahul was rested for the 3rd T20 against New Zealand to keep him fresh for the Test series.

Ajinkya Rahane (Captain), Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara (vice-captain), Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Wriddhiman Saha (wicket-keeper), KS Bharat (wicket-keeper), Ravindra Jadeja, R. Ashwin, Axar Patel, Jayant Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Md. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna.
