Virat Kohli’s run in the Test series against England started in a disastrous fashion. The Indian skipper was dismissed for a first-ball duck by his rival James Anderson in the first innings of the first Test.
Anderson bowled a good length delivery, and Kohli edged the red cherry straight to Jos Buttler behind the stumps.
And, cricketer turned commentator Ramiz Raja has opined that Kohli can learn from the way KL Rahul bats.
Raja added that when KL Rahul is batting, there is proper alignment in the way he plays.
Raja further elaborated that Rahul knew where his off-stump was, and sometimes even great players like Kohli can learn from their juniors.
Adding that Virat Kohli should bat with soft hands just like Rahul did, Raja said that the Indian batting maestro needs to give himself some time to settle down.
“When KL Rahul was batting, there was proper alignment in his game. He was getting close to the ball, knew where his off-stump was. That is how batsmen need to bat in such conditions. Sometimes great players can also learn from younger ones. Virat Kohli can also learn from the way Rahul batted with soft hands. Kohli must not play with hard hands going ahead in the series. He needs to give himself time to settle in,” said Raja on his YouTube channel.
Ramiz Raja further stated that Cheteshwar Pujara looked iffy when he was playing and edged a ball outside off stump.
The former Pakistan cricketer stated that the Indian No.3 is getting out on too many occasions while standing in the crease.
Raja concluded by stating that Pujara is using his shoulder and arms to play on the front foot, which is why he is losing control.
“Cheteshwar Pujara looked iffy out in the middle and ended up edging a ball outside the off-stump. Virat Kohli also played at the ball with hard hands. Both the deliveries were very good but Pujara’s footwork is weak. He is getting out too many times while standing at the crease. He is having to use the shoulder and arms to go on the front foot, which is causing him to lose control,” concluded Raja.
