T20 specialists have flair but Test Cricketer win the matches for their teams – Salman Butt

Former Pakistanis batsman Salman Butt has shed light on the importance of Test Cricket and how success in the longest format remains of paramount importance.
He talked about the current top T20 players like- Rohit, Virat, and Babar are all high-quality batters.
“The current top-class batsmen in T20I cricket include Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, is number one in the world, Kane Williamson is there and Steve Smith”.
“They all are big Test cricketers. Neither Glenn Maxwell has huge T20 performance nor David Miller or any other T20 specialists”.

“Yes, they are also successful (Maxwell and Miller) but the batsmen who established themselves in Test cricket are more successful. Technically sound players have more options to work securely,” said Salman Butt in an interview with Cricwick.
He highlighted how Test batter operates “very smoothly and comfortably win matches for their teams.”
“On the other hand, T20 specialists have more flair and they play more risk-taking cricket which often leaves you dazzled but Test-format established players operate very smoothly and comfortably win matches for their teams.”

He also pointed out how former West Indies greet was a batter ahead of his time.
He “It depends on how you perceive technical aspects. Viv Richards said there is no one way to define success. When (Viv Richards) used to play, teams scored like 200 and that was considered a winning total. Viv Richards used to score like 190 on us own,” said Salman Butt.
