3 prominent Indian players who missed out the WTC final- Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, and Prithvi Shaw

The World Test Championship (WTC) final will be played between India and New Zealand at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

The match will be played from 18th June to 22nd June. The premier Test competition of the world will have its first final and both the finalists deserve it handsomely.

Team India has finally announced a 20-man squad for the final match. Even though the team looks more or less the same as the one that hosted England a couple of months back, there have been some strong exclusions. Here, we will be listing out 3 marquee names who were excluded by the selection committee headed by Chetan Sharma:

Hardik Pandya: This was essentially because of his fitness concerns as he has a myriad of back and shoulder issues. He has been excluded from the Test squad and it comes as a surprise to many as his medium-fast bowling could have been utilized by skipper Virat Kohli in the swing-friendly and pace-friendly conditions of England.

Prithvi Shaw: He had scores of 0 and 4 in the solitary match he played in Australia. But he bounced back like a spring and got into the scheme of runs. He emerged out as the leading run-getter of the Vijay Hazare Trophy as he plundered 827 runs. He also had an amazing IPL 2021 sojourn as he scored 308 runs in the 8 games, he played in. We all expected him to be picked in the squad as he was in red-hot form. But there was delay written in his fate as the selectors chose to stick with Shubman Gill and Mayank Aggarwal.

Kuldeep Yadav: He has been in the team sporadically and he has played only one Test match in the past 2 years. The writing was on the wall for Kuldeep and he has been excluded from the Test squad as the selectors have preferred the likes of Axar Patel and Washington Sundar over him.
